Suspected cultists kill bus conductor in Osogbo

Osun State Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode Some yet-to-be-identified members of a cult group on Sunday killed a man identified simply as Lekan when they attacked him around the Oluode Area of Osogbo, Osun State. The deceased, a bus conductor working in a motor park around the Old Garage Area of Osogbo, was said to be travelling on a motorcycle with three others, when some suspected cultists launched an attack on them. It was learnt that the perpetrators said to be in large number, having overpowered the deceased and others that were with him, hit his head with a big stone. It was further learnt that the other three men that were with Lekan were also inflicted several machete cuts. An eyewitness, who prefered anonymity, told our correspondent during a visit to the area, where the incident happened that “those that attacked them are known in this neighbourhood as members of a cult group. “They attacked them with all manners of dangerous weapons. They used machetes on them but Lekan was hit with a big stone on the head. He lost some much blood. Police operatives responding to distress call later arrived at the scene and took the four of them already drenched in blood to the hospital.” When contacted, the spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, said Lekan was confirmed dead in a hospital, where he was rushed to by the police.
